Accountancy & Tax
Small Business Clubs
Ongoing accountancy and tax support for owner-managed businesses. The Small Business Clubs are how we provide our accountancy and tax services. They bring together the essential accounts and tax work with access to practical support when questions or decisions arise. We do not operate as a year-end-only accountant. Club clients work with us throughout the year, with the level of support agreed around the way the business actually operates.
Ongoing support
Not just a year-end service
Accounts and tax returns are important, but most business questions arise long before the year end.
Small Business Club clients can contact us when something comes up, whether that is a tax question, a Xero issue, a decision about taking money from the business or something in the figures that does not look right.
Routine calls and questions are part of the relationship. They are not treated as an opportunity to raise another invoice.

What the clubs can cover
The Small Business Clubs provide accountancy and tax support that may include the areas below. The exact scope depends on the club selected and the needs of the business. Not every service is included in every club.
Annual accounts
Preparation of the annual accounts and support understanding what the figures mean.
Corporation tax returns
Preparation and submission of the company tax return, with practical tax planning where appropriate.
Self-assessment tax returns
Personal tax returns for directors, business owners and partners where agreed in the club.
VAT returns
Preparation and submission of VAT returns, including support with queries and unusual transactions.
Payroll
Regular payroll processing, payslips, RTI submissions and routine payroll support.
Construction Industry Scheme returns
CIS returns and support for contractors and subcontractors where required.
Bookkeeping
Ongoing bookkeeping for businesses that do not want to manage the records themselves.
Management accounts
More regular reporting for businesses that need a clearer view of performance, cash flow or profitability.
Cash-flow support
Practical help understanding, monitoring and planning around cash flow.
Xero setup and support
Setup, troubleshooting, training and practical help using Xero properly.
Company secretarial support
Support with routine Companies House requirements and company records where applicable.
Routine liaison with HMRC
Handling routine correspondence and queries with HMRC on your behalf.
Ongoing tax and commercial questions
Access to someone who already understands the business when a question or decision arises.
The right level of support
You do not have to buy services you do not need
Some businesses need annual accounts, tax and occasional advice.
Others need VAT, payroll, bookkeeping, management accounts and much more regular involvement.
The Small Business Clubs allow the level of support to be agreed around the way the business actually operates.
Clear scope
The services included are confirmed clearly at the outset.
Fixed monthly cost
Ongoing work is spread into a regular monthly fee rather than arriving as one large annual bill.
Room to change
The level of support can be reviewed as the business grows or its requirements change.

Looking for an accountant?
If you are looking for ongoing help with your accounts, tax, VAT, payroll or bookkeeping, the Small Business Clubs are where to start.
We will first understand what the business needs and what is already being handled internally. We can then recommend the appropriate level of ongoing support.
- Annual accounts and tax compliance are delivered through a Small Business Club.
- Routine calls and questions are part of the agreed ongoing relationship.
- Historic corrections, catch-up work and onboarding may be charged separately.
- The level of support can be reviewed as the business changes.
- The Thrive Hub does not normally offer isolated year-end accounts or one-off tax returns outside an ongoing club relationship.
